South West Coast Path
Early April 2023
Starting at Worbarrow Bay we head west along the South West Coast Path to Arish Mell and the Royal Armoured Corps memorial before heading down to Mupe Bay to wild camp for the night where we are startled by an unexpected visitor.

Starting near Kingston we hike the South West Coast path through Kimmeridge into the Lulworth Ranges and setup at Worbarrow Bay. We’re spotted by a ranger but after a friendly encounter we thankfully do not get moved on.
Bleak Dartmoor
Early March 2023
Starting at Dartmoor Inn below Great Links Tor we visit Widgery Cross then hike through the clag towards Bleak House ruins and up to Green Tor to pitch up. A night of heavy rain, strong wind and clag.
Frozen Dartmoor
Late February 2023
In sub-zero temperature and a windchill at -10c we head to Dartmoor with our full winter gear. Hiking through the West Okement Valley then climb up the valley to Black Tor and over to Fordsland Ledge to setup as snow starts falling.
48 Hours on Dartmoor

Starting at Belstone hiking over Belstone Tor, Irishman's Wall, Higher Tor and Oke Tor before a cold & windy camp on Steeperton Tor. We head to Brim Brook for night two with a lovely sunset and a clear starry night.

Starting on Ivybridge Lane we hike to Nun's Cross Farm then continue to Eylesbarrow Tin Mine and follow the River Erme down to Red Lake to camp for the night with a new Terra Nova Starlite 2 to try. In the morning we head off to find Ducks' Pool Letterbox and continue on to Whiteworks Tin mine.

Starting at Meldon Reservoir we hike through Black-a-Tor Copse and following the West Okement River where we climb up to Lints Tor and havea look at some new Flepeg pegs.

We head to Shilley Pool then hike over to Shilstone Tor, visit Kennon Hill stone row and Kennon Hill stone circle and then head up to Watern Tor for a beautiful sunset.
Dartmoor in a heatwave

With summer in full swing we set off with a weather warning for heat, without any real plan for where we're going we explore Dartmoor over 3 days.

We hike & wild camp all the peaks over 600m which are Cut Hill, Whitehorse Hill, Hangingstone Hill, Yes Tor, (Hampster Tor) and High Willhays in an approx 22mile/35km loop visiting lots of interesting spons along the way.

Starting at Belstone for a multi-day loop we hike to Hound Tor as the weather turns heading upto Hangingstone Hill, by the time we get to Cranmere Pool Letterbox it's now a lightning storm in heavy rain and we have to decide what to do.

Heading past Avon Dam to Shepherd's Cross and on to Keble Martin's Church, then at the Heap of the Sinners we decide to head over to Red Lake China Clay Works where we find with the Platinum Jubilee holiday it's busy.

We pop to Great Mis Tor for a quick overnight wild camp, we arrive just before sunset and walk up past Little Mis Tor to Great Mis Tor in the glow of a lovely sunset with panoramic views across Dartmoor.

Starting at Worth Matravers and hiking along the coast path to a secluded little spot right next to the sea to cook burgers and sausages for dinner and watch the sunset then climb back up to a spot on a cliff to wild camp with panoramic views.

With snow still possible we start along the East Dart River in unpredictable conditions we head off towards Cut Hill in the fog and rain through the Cut Hill Peat Pass then off through thick fog to Fur Tor to await the snow.

Visiting Golden Dagger Mine, Vitifer Mine & Stratts Farm plus many more hidden gems along the way.
New Years Day Wild Camp disaster on Dartmoor

Starting at Wheal Jewel Leat heaading down to the River Tavy in unpredictable weather and aiming for Fur Tor. With rivers swollen and in full flow we find that it is impossible to take our planned route, then disaster strikes on the slippery rocks and we decide it's prudent to bail.

Great Mis Tor Dartmoor

Starting at the abandoned ruins of a farm house called Twist Farm heading over to Langstone Moor Stone Circle and the surrounding settlements for a cold, wet and windy wild camp on Great Mis Tor. Then setting off to explore Little Mis Tor before heading west to the Merrivale Newtake Settlement and ramains of Walkham blowing house, climbing up over to Roos Tor and over to Great Staple Tor.

With a yellow weather warning forecast again we gear up in our winter kit, starting at Langton Matravers and hiking down to abandoned quarries right next to the sea waiting for the forecasted strong winds.
3 days wild camping & exploring Dartmoor

Starting at the Dartmoor Inn car park we head up to Great Links Tor catching an amazing but chilly sunset on the way, waking up to a cold morning on Great Links Tor then over to Kerbeam Mine via Chat Tor and Rattlebrook Hill for lunch at Deadlake Foot then head on down the river Tavy to Tavy Cleave to find an elusive rock inscribed with poetry, calling it a day camping on a lovely spot with a beautiful waterfall near Tavy Cleave for night two. Then visiting Ger Tor, Hare Tor, Sharp Tor and Brat Tor with some hidden gems along the way.
Wild camping on High Willhays the highest point of Dartmoor

Starting at Meldon Reservoir, we hike over Longstone Hill and Okehampton Common to capture a stunning sunset just under Yes Tor finally climbing up to High Willhays in to the clouds in the dark, setting up camp on High Willhays the highest point in Dartmoor, visiting the disputed Hampster Tor for a panoramic views across Dartmoor. Hiking back down via Fordsland ledge to amazing cloud formations through the West Okement valley and on to Black Tor with cattle hurding on horseback!

With a yellow weather warning for wind and rain we gear up in our winter kit, starting at Worth Matravers in the heavy rain and hiking down to abandoned quarry at Seacome right next to the sea among the caves and rough seas as a panoramic backdrop. Lots of fun, laughs, rain and the customary disasters.
